Welcome to MLIG!

On behalf of the Mineral Law Interest Group (MLIG), welcome to the Texas Tech University School of Law. We are a new student organization at this law school, but anticipate rapid development as the issues surrounding oil and gas law and water law continue to heat up across the state and the country.

The purpose of MLIG is to promote discussion and learning about legal and policy issues in the fields of oil, gas, water and other minerals and natural resources; to sponsor student, faculty, and guest seminars on these issues; and to facilitate networking among students, professors, and other members of the legal community interested in these legal issues.

In the winter of 2006, Greg Nibert, from the law firm Hinkle, Hensley, Shanor, & Martin, L.L.P., discussed with Texas Tech faculty, students, and other guests what an oil and gas attorney actually does on a day-to-day basis.
