By-Laws: Intellectual Property Students Association
Membership (selection procedures,
resignations, expulsion, rights and duties): All procedures, resignations, expulsion, rights,
and duties of members are as stated in the Constitution of this organization.
Dues (amount and
collection procedures, and special fees, when payable): Dues will not be collected. However, activity
costs for participation, decided by the membership or executive board, should be
paid by the due date.
Duties of Officers (powers,
responsibilities, specific job descriptions, procedures for filling unexpired
terms of office, removal from office):
All powers, responsibilities, job descriptions,
filling unexpired terms of office are as stated in the Constitution of this
organization. The process of removing an officer from his/her position is
identical to the process outlined in the constitution.
Executive Board
(structure, composition, powers): The Executive Board is the unit of officers including the Chancellor, Prime
Minister, Minister of Fiscal Policy, Minister of Internal Information, Minister
of Propaganda, and Minister of Foreign Policy. The officers are responsible for
keeping the organization running smoothly. They carry the same rights as
regular members, but also have to power to, as a unit with the advisor, expel a
member for serious offense(s). They also have the power to organize and run
meetings and events of the organization.
Committees
(standing, special, how formed, chairpersons, meetings, powers, duties): The creation and duties of committees within the
organization are described in the Constitution of said organization. The
purpose for committees is to work toward or direct the organization to
accomplish goals set by the group. The chairpersons, officers under the
constitution, but not executive officers, are chosen either by volunteering,
appointment, or election. The meetings of the committee are set by the
committee. The powers of the committee are set by the group as a whole or the
executive board. The committee should not act in any situation without the
consent of the majority of a quorum or, alternatively, the executive board – the
main purpose is planning. Their duties are outlined by the membership or board
in setting up the committee.
